Come out to backcountry ski (or splitboard) with some women who probably also bike! Organized by the Fort Follies but team registration is not required; feel free to bring fem friends (but please have them sign up also!). This is not a team event; we are just facilitating people getting together and are not liable for any injuries that can happen when you're in the backcountry.
We will be having two days out on the Montgomery Bowl on Cameron Pass! Join Sarah North on March 29th, and Emma Jones on April 5th. Both groups will be meeting at the Zimmerman Lake Trailhead at 9 am. We will not be taking brand new backcountry skiers/riders without AAIRE training near consequential avalanche terrain. All skiers/riders will need a working beacon, shovel, and probe. We are not qualified to teach avalanche safety, but we will check beacon transmission and go over a quick rundown of the gear before starting.
Gear to bring: beacon, shovel, probe, skis/board, boots, poles, skins, helmet, goggles/sunglasses, gloves and/or mittens, ski pants, shell jacket, base layer, backpack, snacks, water, sunscreen.
Check out Sarah's Strava link for details on the exact location, elevation gain, and mileage.
